We 4's Study . . .
The
4 year old classes will be following the alphabet throughout the year,
beginning with the letter A for Apple in September up through J for Jesus
at Christmas time. K for King will start off the New Year and will continue
until we reach Z for Zebra in
May.
Watch your calendar for each week’s letter and get ready
for lots of activities that tie in with the Letter of the Week. We
try to connect everything we do with our featured letter including
our activities, Bible Stories, Field Trips, and even snacks! We
honor our students whose names begin with the letter too and
they become our ABC KIDS for the week. We learn the sound
that each letter makes and practice printing it, too.
Some special events during the year include Mitten Day, when
we
make an Ice Castle; a Pajama Party , when we come to school in our PJ’s;
and Wacky Wednesday, where everything is backwards; and Yum - Yuk day (you’ll
have to wait and see what this is?). Field trips take us to an Apple Orchard
and a Pizza Parlor and the Zoo.
We make end of the year assessments in order to give parents
an
understanding of their child’s readiness for kindergarten. Parent/
teacher conferences are held in May to review these assessments.
On occasion a recommendation is made that a child wait a year before entering
Kindergarten based on his/her age and social emotional readiness. Parents
are encouraged to meet with the teachers anytime throughout the year to
discuss concerns.
